Langtang with Gosaikunda
A full day of cultural experience as we stroll through the quant streets lined with colorful artifacts as we visit interesting temples and Buddhist stupas. Our second phase of the journey is the trek to Langtang valley. This is a picturesque trek rich in culture and delightful animal and plant life. It is perhaps the best introduction to the Nepal Himalayas and quite easily accessible from Kathmandu. We trek into the wide alpine valley of Langtang. The whole valley is dominated by great peaks of Ganesh Himal (7,407 m), Langtang Lirung (7,246 m), Dorje Lakpa (6,975 m) and many others. We will also pass through the beautiful valley of Langtang, which was buried under rubbles, during the devastating earthquake of April 2015. However, this trial is considered safe to travel now.
During the trek we also come across the glaciers and the yak pastures of Langsisa. On our return journey, we take a higher route to the holy Hindu lake of Gosaikunda at 4380m from where you get a scintillating panoramic view of the Himalayan ranges stretching from Dhaulagir (8,167m) and Annapurna (8,091m) in the west to Mount Everest (8,848m) in the far east. The trail continues further to Laurebinayak Pass (4600m).Finally we end our trek in Sundarijal, Kathmandu passing through Thare Pati.
